Frequently Asked Questions
General
-
I usually book about 4-8 weeks in advance, so I would recommend getting in touch with me as soon as you start thinking you need a designer and well before your deadline.
-
Absolutely! Working with a designer is a big investment, so we try to make payments as simple as possible for our clients. We typically like to break it up into installments throughout the project. However, we’re flexible and are happy to discuss options that work best with your budget.
Brand Strategy projects are billed in two payments, a 50% non-refundable deposit and the remaining 50% paid on the end date.
Design Projects such as Branding + Web Design projects are broken into bi-weekly payments throughout the project timeline. There is a 50% non-refundable deposit that needs to be paid upfront in order to secure your spot and with the remainder billed across the duration of the project (which would typically span 2-6 months).
-
Yes, absolutely! To assess your design needs, we’ll start by connecting over email or a quick chat. Then, we follow up by email with an estimated price range. Every project is custom quoted and is provided upon filling out our inquiry form & inquiring to collaborate together!
To give you an idea, the majority of our projects (on average) range from a $5k-$20k+ USD investment in design execution throughout a 2-6 month collaboration.
-
Branding projects typically take around 2-6 months to complete. Our availability varies throughout the year, but we typically book projects in advance. So please keep that information in mind when reaching out to work with us.
-
No. All deposits are non-refundable as it is my way of securing your spot on my schedule. I book projects in advance, and scheduling ensures that I give all of my clients the proper amount of time that a project deserves. As a result, I turn down clients for your reserved spot. If you back out of the project, you may leave an empty spot that could have been filled by another project. The deposit ensures that clients are serious about moving forward with the project.
-
You must have all content necessary for the project ready to go by our agreed-upon start date unless discussed prior. Failure to do so could result in rescheduling the project to a later date and/or a restart fee.
-
If for some reason you are not happy after two rounds of refinement (which rarely happens!), I will continue refinements at a flat fee for each extra round of refinements billed on your final invoice. We go through an in-depth questionnaire and briefing process at the start of the project to make sure we are on the same page.
-
Short answer - maybe. Each project timeline has been thoughtfully created to give us enough time to do our research, for me to draft your design, and for us to go through the refinement rounds. However, there are some circumstances in which your project may be able to be turned around quickly if the situation allows. If you need a rush project, please let me know in advance so I can create a custom quote based on your requirements and a rush fee may be added depending on the deadline and complexity of the project.
-
If you pay your deposit to book your spot but then do not complete your project homework or do not commit to having your content ready before the start date, you will be pushed to the next available spot and required to pay a rescheduling fee to re-book your project back in.
Branding
-
Essentially, brand strategy is how designers solve problems. Having a logo that looks good is great, but is it attracting your target audience? Is it portraying your brand values? Brand strategy comes in different forms. Some areas might be an in-depth look into your business goals, target audience, brand values, brand personality, competition, and more.
-
Creative direction is how we begin to translate your vision and business goals into a tangible brand identity. It is where we explore how we can use design (color psychology, photography, typography, patterns, etc.) to speak directly to your audience and connect with them.
-
Your brand guidelines will include your brand strategy plan we did together, logo variations, color palette, visual inspiration, font selection, logo, and file usage as well as using your brand in context. This is useful for you as the owner to utilize your new brand suite, as well as passing it on to a future designer/web developer/anyone using your brand.
-
Before branding projects can begin, I will need your design questionnaire returned with your business details. You must have a solid idea of your target audience, business mission, products and/or services, a general idea of styles you like/appeal to your target audience (or exactly what you dislike), and of course, your business name!
-
Your branding is never just your logo, it is the total presence that makes up your business (and isn't even entirely visual!). From your logo, website, color palette, right through to your tone of voice, marketing, messaging, copywriting, and photography.
An alternate logo is another version of the main logo, with a slight difference, it’s usually either horizontal or centered depending on what the primary is. Just so you have all bases covered!
A submark is a similar but usually simplified variation of the logo, used in situations when the main logo is not the best fit. Its simplified style makes it easier to use on things like social media, like a sticker or stamp, and any other applications your specific industry might require.
An icon is usually a simple symbol that is immediately recognizable as part of your brand. Essentially, it’s a straightforward and bold representation of your business (think Nike swoosh).
Web Design
-
Website hosting is a service that allows you to post your website onto the Internet - think of it like the “land” or space where your website lives.
-
No. For hosting, you will need to purchase a Squarespace, or Shopify hosting plan separately and we go through this process when you are ready to launch your site.
For domains, you will need to purchase your own domain name and provide me with the permissions to access the account (if you do not purchase your domain through Squarespace or Shopify). I recommend GoDaddy or Namecheap as they are the most affordable and reliable providers who also integrate well with Squarespace, and Shopify.
*Luna Soul Design is not responsible for server downtime, software issues, or any other compatibility issue that may arise after the launch of the site from your hosting or domain provider.
-
For every site package, I can upload up to 5 blog posts and 15 products if included in the site design and discussed earlier. If you need more added, the work will be quoted on an hourly basis.
-
Nope. We believe in staying in our zone of genius, which is brand strategy and design. However, should we determine through your brand strategy that copy would be a wise complimentary investment in reaching your business goals, we’re happy to refer you to a copy expert we know, love, and trust.
-
Each website package timeline has been thoughtfully created to give us enough time to do our research, for me to draft your design, and for us to go through the testing stage. However, there are some circumstances in which your website can be able to be turned around quicker if the situation allows.
If you need a rush project, please let me know well in advance so I can create a custom quote based on your requirements and a rush fee may be added depending on the deadline and complexity of the site.
-
No, with my design process and for Squarespace, they aren’t needed I like to go straight to on-platform design with the full page content. This just gives you a full idea of the site with working buttons, images, and a responsive layout (instead of a flat wireframe).
